Marc Marquez has shared a personal image revealing the severe physical condition of his right arm. The photo, posted on his Instagram account, shows a stark contrast between his atrophied right arm and his healthy left arm, with the right arm appearing sunken in the shoulder area.
The image was part of a series posted by the Ducati rider following last weekend's MotoGP Aragon Grand Prix. While his physical struggles are well-known, the visual evidence has drawn considerable attention. Those close to him have openly discussed the complexity of his situation, expressing amazement that he remains in championship contention.
The Protege's Stark Assessment
His condition was highlighted by his own protege, Maximo Quiles. After winning a Moto3 race, Quiles was asked if he was winning like Marquez, with "an arm and a half." The 18-year-old rider, who is managed by Marquez's company Vertical Management, corrected the notion. "It's not comparable," Quiles stated. "Marc isn't racing with one and a half arms, he's racing with just one arm, because his other one is completely shattered."
Aragon Victory Amid Physical Limits
Despite the injury, Marquez claimed his eighth premier-class win at the MotorLand Aragon circuit. Since joining Ducati in 2024, he has maintained an unbeaten record at Aragon in both sprint and grand prix races. He did not secure pole position, which was taken by Marco Bezzecchi with a new track record, but he won both the sprint and the main race after overtaking Bezzecchi.
The main race victory was not as dominant as in previous years. Rookie Pedro Acosta pressured Marquez for much of the race. The veteran rider managed his pace and ultimately finished with a 1.7-second lead over the KTM rider.
Managing a Changed Reality
The injury originated at the 2025 Indonesian Grand Prix, an incident caused by Marco Bezzecchi that occurred right after Marquez secured his seventh premier-class title. Marquez now speaks of searching for his "new 100%" and is forced to categorize races on the calendar into those where he can attack and those where he must simply defend.
This strategy was evident at Silverstone, where he could only manage ninth and seventh place finishes. In Ducati's 'Inside' program, he was seen admitting he "had no control" over his right arm, a comment he later said he did not want to become public. At Aragon, however, he considered the track a place to attack, and he successfully pursued the full 37 points available. The champion's arm, as he has now shown the world, remains profoundly damaged.
