Marc Marquez has posted a photo revealing the battered state of his right shoulder, a move his team describes as a deliberate shift in strategy. The eight-time world champion's arm has undergone seven operations in six years, a fact he had previously tried to avoid discussing with media.

Until last week, Marquez consistently deflected questions about his physical condition. He often stated he wanted to stop talking about his arm because "it is what it is, and I have to race with it." The Instagram photo, showing him shirtless with his right shoulder fully exposed, contradicted that public stance. According to a source close to the rider, the post was not spontaneous but a calculated decision by Marquez's own company, Vertical, which manages his image.

A Difficult Realization at Silverstone

The new transparency followed a tough weekend at the British Grand Prix at Silverstone. Marquez had prepared extensively during the summer break, but his arm's response on the bike was worse than expected. He finished ninth in the sprint race, nearly 14 seconds behind winner Jorge Martin. In the main race, he came seventh.

Publicly, Marquez initially downplayed the role of his injury. He told journalists the reason for his performance was "me" and that it was "a matter of endurance." However, in a private Ducati team video released later, he was more candid. "I was close to crashing because I had no control over my right arm," Marquez told engineers after the race. A source from his hometown of Cervera explained the discrepancy: "Marc doesn't make excuses, especially not in public."

The Physical Reality and Its Impact

According to his surgeon, Dr. Samuel Antuna, Marquez's right arm has significant limitations. "I think the expression that Marc is currently racing with one and a half arms fits the current condition of his right arm,"Antuna told El Periodico. He noted particular weakness in the biceps area."The last surgery was only three months ago, and the biceps will continue to improve," Antuna said. "But you don't recover at the same speed or in the same way when you are 33 as you do when you are 22."

The source close to Marquez said the rider has now accepted this reality. "Marc has accepted that people will keep asking him about his arm and he wants to be transparent," the source stated. "He wants people to see what he sees every day when he looks in the mirror. It's not an excuse; it's his reality."The impact will vary by circuit, potentially reducing his performance significantly at some tracks."I'm already at peace with myself after becoming world champion again last year," he has said. "One more title won't change my life." The recent photo serves as a message of transparency, not only to fans but also to rivals, showing the physical condition of the man currently leading the charge in the title fight.
