The American Superbike Racing Association (ASRA) has announced a new high-stakes race for its 2026 season finale. The inaugural Dunlop Unlimited Superbike Shootout will take place at Daytona International Speedway from October 15 to 18.

All on-track action for the Daytona Race of Champions weekend will be broadcast live. The official ASRA Racing YouTube page will carry the stream.

Race Format and Prize Purse

The shootout will be a single race featuring both Amateur and Expert competitors on track simultaneously. While they share the asphalt, their results and prize money will be calculated separately. Dunlop Motorcycle Tires is providing a total cash purse of $5,000.

To be eligible for prize money, a rider must have started at least one official ASRA points race during the 2026 season. ASRA says this rule is designed to reward series regulars.

The prize money will be distributed through fifth place in each division as follows:

Division1st Place2nd Place3rd Place4th Place5th Place
Expert$1,200$750$500$300$250
Amateur$800$500$300$250$150

Organizers See Daytona as Ideal Venue

ASRA officials believe the high banks of Daytona are the perfect setting for this new event. Scott Gilbert, an ASRA Partner, connected the venue's history with the shootout's goals.

"Daytona is the right place for a high-stakes Unlimited Superbike shootout," Gilbert said. He added that mixing Amateur and Expert riders with significant prize money for both should create compelling racing.

Dunlop, a key series partner, is backing the special race. Chad Geer, a Dunlop Motorcycle representative, stated the event is a recognition of rider effort. "Our riders compete hard all season," Geer said. "A dedicated Daytona shootout that pays both Amateur and Expert is a strong way to recognize that commitment."

Future Expansion Plans

The 2026 race is seen as a potential pilot for a larger program. If the Daytona event meets expectations for field size and competition quality, ASRA will consider expanding the format in 2027.

Early discussions point to a possible short series of Unlimited Superbike Shootouts at select ASRA rounds. These would build toward a season finale at Daytona. A season-long points fund and similar dual-division payouts are under consideration.

Final decisions for 2027 will depend on several factors. Rider participation, sponsor interest, and the success of the inaugural 2026 race will all be weighed.

The Dunlop Unlimited Superbike Shootout will be run on Daytona's 3.51-mile road course. It is part of the broader ASRA Race of Champions weekend schedule, which includes practice and qualifying sessions.
