MV Agusta Confirms Financial Rebalancing Amid Ownership
MV Agusta has issued a statement confirming a period of financial difficulty and its entry into a legal restructuring process, while refuting media

MV Agusta has confirmed it is handling a period of financial and operational imbalance. The company issued a statement on September 11th, 2026, to address widespread media reports about its corporate health and a potential production halt.
The Italian manufacturer stated it has been working for several months to restore its operational and financial balance following its separation from the KTM Group. MV Agusta's shareholder, Art of Mobility, controlled by the Sardarov family, reacquired full control of the company after that split. The firm says the separation resulted in a significant transition phase due to the deep integration between the two organizations.
Ownership Structure Under Evaluation
Art of Mobility is assessing potential changes to MV Agusta's ownership structure. According to the company's statement, some discussions regarding shareholding developments have been explored and abandoned, while other parties and scenarios remain under evaluation. This process is being conducted with external advisors. The statement did not confirm or deny recent reports of a collapsed agreement with Chinese manufacturer CFMoto, which was reportedly set to take a 49 percent stake.
MV Agusta has entered Italy's Composizione Negoziata della Crisi (CNC), a legal framework for companies facing temporary financial imbalance. The procedure is intended to help a company engage with creditors and stakeholders to develop a recovery plan. MV Agusta stated that access to the CNC requires "concrete prospects for recovery."
The company criticized the proliferation of rumors and reports it says are unsupported by evidence. It suggested some speculation may originate from parties who have participated in or expressed interest in the ownership discussions. "MV Agusta therefore does not intend to comment on individual rumours, nor to contribute to a debate based on speculation or partial information," the statement read.
Sales Performance in Key Markets
Despite the acknowledged difficulties, MV Agusta pointed to positive commercial results in the first half of 2026. The company recorded 2,166 global retail registrations, a modest increase compared to the same period last year. It highlighted strong growth in its three largest markets.
| Market | H1 2026 Registrations | H1 2025 Registrations | Growth |
|---|---|---|---|
| Global | 2,166 | 2,094 | 3.4% |
| Italy | 644 | 500 | 28.8% |
| France | Not specified | Not specified | 42.3% |
| United States | Not specified | Not specified | 24.2% |
MV Agusta called Italy its largest market. The results, it said, confirm the strength of the brand and customer interest internationally. However, the statement noted these figures "do not eliminate the operational and financial difficulties of the current phase."
Path Forward and Management Priority
The company's immediate priority is ensuring continuity. Management aims to progressively consolidate operations and build the conditions for a solid future. The statement emphasized working with responsibility and confidentiality during this complex period. Any significant development regarding the corporate structure will be communicated officially by the company once conditions are concrete and definitive. For now, the future ownership of the historic Italian brand remains unclear.
