Ducati Launches 2027 Desmo450 MX with Reliability Updates
Ducati has updated its 2027 Desmo450 MX and Factory motocross bikes, focusing on durability and ergonomics. Key changes include a reinforced exhaust manifold, a new water pump seal, and a 51-tooth rear sprocket for improved torque.

Ducati has revised critical components to enhance the Desmo450 MX’s robustness for 2027. The updates focus on gearing, durability, ergonomics, and maintenance rather than adding more power. Changes to improve reliability included a revised starter motor gear coupling, a water pump oil seal with new geometry and a Teflon coating, and a reinforced exhaust manifold at the silencer connection. The chain guide support, fork slider guards, and front engine mounting brackets were also reinforced.
Ergonomics, gearing and tyre updates
Both models have redesigned gearshift and rear brake pedal tips for improved foot positioning. For 2027, Ducati fitted a 51-tooth rear sprocket to increase torque reaching the rear wheel and improve corner exit punch. The standard Desmo450 MX gets Pirelli Scorpion MX32 Mid-Soft tyres as part of the update. The fuel filler cap was increased to 40mm for quicker refuelling. A new livery swaps previous white Ducati logos for black ones on the standard model.
The bike is powered by a 449.6cc Desmodromic single-cylinder engine producing a claimed 63.5hp at 9400rpm and 53.5Nm at 7500rpm. The standard model retains Takasago Excel aluminium rims with Alpina spokes and a DID chain.
Factory model enhancements and US-specific configuration
The 2027 Desmo450 MX and Desmo450 MX Factory are now arriving at selected European Ducati dealers, with availability in other markets to follow. The standard model wears Ducati Red with black logos, while the Factory model gets a 2027 Ducati Corse livery.
For the first time, Ducati is giving the Desmo450 MX a dedicated US market setup with specific suspension settings and 20mm offset triple clamps, versus 22mm elsewhere. The Factory version is not available in North America for 2027; a limited-edition 2026 model is offered there exclusively instead.
Factory-specific components include billet-machined triple clamps, a holeshot device, a front brake disc guard, a sump guard, and an RK MXU gold O-ring chain. It also adds an Akrapovič titanium exhaust saving 1.7kg, dedicated engine mapping, and upgraded Showa suspension with special coatings. A Wi-Fi module is included for customizing Riding Modes via the X-Link app.
Core specifications and electronics package
The Desmo450 MX retains its core specifications for 2027. The engine is housed in a twin-spar aluminium frame with a cast aluminium swingarm. Suspension consists of fully adjustable Showa components: 49mm upside-down forks with 310mm of travel, and a rear Showa shock with 301mm of wheel travel. Braking uses a Brembo system with 260mm front and 240mm rear Galfer discs.

The electronics package is a next-generation suite featuring Ducati Traction Control, claimed as the world's first patented system dedicated to a motocross bike. It also includes Power Launch, Quick Shift, and Engine Brake Control. Two Power Modes and two Riding Modes are configurable via the app. A predictive maintenance system, available via an accessory Wi-Fi module, uses bike data to adjust engine maintenance intervals based on usage.
