Voge has launched a plug-in-hybrid CU-X cruiser concept at CIMA 2026. The CU-X Hybrid Concept was presented as a technology demonstrator, featuring a plug-in-hybrid engine and a futuristic design.

"Voge has launched a brand-new CU-X Hybrid Concept featuring a plug-in-hybrid engine, and a futuristic design," the company said. This showcase model explores a new architecture for motorcycles. It aims to address the long-standing compromise of using a single powertrain for both stop-start city riding and long-distance touring.

Hybrid technology and design features

The CU-X explores a plug-in hybrid motorcycle architecture. It combines an internal-combustion engine and an electric motor with a traction battery. This setup is designed to provide effortless low-speed and mid-range response for a cruiser-style motorcycle.

The plug-in hybrid system could allow for short commutes on battery power alone. For longer journeys, the petrol engine would take over. The electric motor may assist the combustion engine or drive the bike independently. It could also recharge the battery via the engine or operate both power sources together. The concept blends this advanced technology with cruiser styling and sportier touches. It has an aggressive front look with no windshield installed.

Technical specifications and components

Specific performance metrics for the hybrid system are not yet available. The concept's chassis and componentry, however, have been detailed. The bike features braking systems from J.Juan. It rides on a solid front wheel and uses two rear shock absorbers. A front brake and clutch lever guard is also fitted.

Context and future outlook

Voge presented the concept at the 24th China International Motorcycle Trade Exhibition. The brand operates from Loncin Motorcycle’s manufacturing facility in Chongqing, China, and works with BMW Motorrad as a supplier. Voge's current production lineup includes models like the DS800X and DS625X in the UK. It also has three cruiser models: the CU250, CU525, and the range-topping CU626.

The CU-X is strictly a technology demonstrator and is not a production motorcycle. Its development signals how traditional cruiser styling is being adapted with new powertrain solutions. More information about the CU-X concept may be revealed at EICMA in Milan in November.
