Pedro Acosta on MotoGP Rivalry

Pedro Acosta will leave KTM to join the factory Ducati team alongside reigning champion Marc Marquez next season.
Acosta currently sits seventh in the world championship, having taken his first Sprint victory this year but still seeking a maiden MotoGP win after two and a half seasons.
He believes having no close friendships in the paddock gives him the freedom to attack his rivals on track without hesitation.
According to Acosta, "thankfully in MotoGP, with almost every rider it's quite easy to have a conversation, easy to have a relationship."
However, he also thinks that "at the end, everyone is here to get the same dream," which makes it difficult to have an honest relationship with someone who wants the same thing.
Acosta stated that "maybe I prefer to take a step back and not have any relationship," which he feels allows him to focus on his racing without any emotional attachment.
He also thinks that this lack of close relationships is what makes the sport more exciting, comparing it to past rivalries involving Valentino Rossi and Sete Gibernau, or Mick Doohan and Alex Criville.
No Close Friendships in the Paddock
Acosta feels that having no close friendships in the paddock is what makes him a more aggressive rider.
He believes that if he had close relationships with his rivals, he would have feelings for them and wouldn't be able to attack them as aggressively.
Acosta thinks that this is what makes the sport more exciting, as riders are constantly trying to one-up each other.
Past Rivalries in MotoGP
Acosta thinks that past rivalries in MotoGP were more intense because riders didn't have close relationships with each other.
He compares the sport to the past, saying that "remember Sete with Valentino, or Criville with Doohan, it was not an easy relationship."
Acosta believes that this lack of close relationships is what made the sport more exciting in the past.
