Brad Binder joins BMW WorldSBK team for 2027
BMW confirms Brad Binder will leave KTM MotoGP to partner Miguel Oliveira in its factory WorldSBK team starting in 2027, replacing Danilo Petrucci.

BMW has signed Brad Binder for its factory WorldSBK team starting in the 2027 season. He will partner Miguel Oliveira, whose own contract renewal was confirmed last week.
This move ends Binder's seven-year stint with KTM's factory MotoGP squad. His seat at BMW becomes available as Danilo Petrucci confirmed he will not remain with the team next year. Petrucci's departure had been widely anticipated, with Binder linked to the ride throughout the summer.
Binder's MotoGP Record and New Challenge
Brad Binder joined the premier class in 2021. He won two races in his first two seasons and took a Sprint victory in Jerez in 2023. His form has declined since 2024, however, with no podium finishes since the opening race of that season in Qatar.
His transfer reunites him with former KTM teammate Miguel Oliveira. The pair were teammates during KTM's last MotoGP race win in 2022.
Sven Blusch, head of BMW Motorrad Motorsport, welcomed the new signing. "We are delighted to welcome Brad to the BMW Motorrad Motorsport family," Blusch said. "What particularly impresses us is his absolute determination to start a new chapter in WorldSBK."
BMW's Ambitions with the New Line-Up
Blusch outlined the team's expectations for Binder. "His goal is clear: he wants to fight for the world championship title," he stated. The executive acknowledged an adjustment period would be needed for Binder to adapt to the BMW M1000 RR and the WorldSBK championship, but expressed confidence it would happen quickly.
He also praised the dynamic of the renewed partnership. "With Brad and Miguel, two former teammates are reunited who complement each other perfectly, both for their personalities and their riding styles."
Regarding the outgoing Petrucci, Blusch expressed gratitude. "At the same time, we would like to thank Danilo for his tremendous commitment."
A Busy Week for WorldSBK Transfers
Binder's confirmation marks the second major rider switch to WorldSBK announced this week. It follows the official confirmation of Jack Miller's move to the Pata Yamaha team yesterday. The flurry of activity signals significant rider market movement ahead of the 2027 season.
The German manufacturer now has its rider line-up settled well in advance, pairing two experienced riders with proven race-winning pedigrees in MotoGP.
