Marc Márquez wins Aragon MotoGP for Ducati

Marc Márquez and the Ducati Lenovo Team won the 23-lap MotoGP Grand Prix at MotorLand Aragón on Sunday, September 8, 2026. The victory marked Márquez's third consecutive double win at the circuit, having also won the Saturday Sprint race.

Márquez took the lead at the start but was passed at turn three, dropping to third. He moved back to second on lap two and retook the lead on lap six. From there, he built a gap of more than half a second, eventually winning by a comfortable margin. His teammate, Francesco Bagnaia, crashed out on the sixth lap while running in seventh place.

Championship Standings

As the thirteenth Grand Prix of the season concluded, the championship battle tightened. Márquez's win moved him to second in the standings with 237 points, just 19 points behind the leader. Bagnaia is eighth, 94 points behind his teammate. The Ducati Lenovo Team is third in the teams' standings with 380 points.

Márquez expressed satisfaction with the result, saying he was very happy with the double victory and that the goal was to get as close as possible to 37 points, which he felt they did. He admitted to a mistake at the start, forgetting to disengage the rear height device, but recovered to manage his race.

Acosta Shines for KTM

Red Bull KTM's Pedro Acosta delivered a brilliant performance to finish second. The Spaniard started from sixth on the grid and fought his way to the front. He produced what his team called the best overtaking move of the season on Marco Bezzecchi at Turn 16 to take second place with 16 laps remaining.

Acosta then shadowed Márquez, keeping within a second and setting fastest laps before finishing 1.7 seconds behind. This was his joint-highest result of the season and his first podium since the Hungarian Grand Prix. He now sits sixth in the championship, 15 points from the top five.

His teammates also fought through the field. Enea Bastianini finished eighth after a late pass on Diogo Moreira. Brad Binder recovered from running off track on lap one, which dropped him to 20th, to finish tenth. Substitute rider Pol Espargaró finished 16th.

Team Manager Aki Ajo called it a comeback, stating that Pedro had an excellent ride fighting at the top and that having three riders in the top ten meant they had to be satisfied.

Aprilia Secures Podium

Aprilia Racing celebrated a podium finish with Marco Bezzecchi in third. Starting from pole position, Bezzecchi was in the battle for victory during the early stages before settling for third, his second podium of the weekend after also finishing on the rostrum in the Sprint race.

Teammate Jorge Martín finished fifth, managing his race from within the top five. According to the team's press release, this result allows Martín to maintain the lead in the championship standings with 256 points.

Bezzecchi was pleasantly surprised by his pace, noting that they arrived in Aragón with few expectations because last year they had started from behind, but this weekend he was fast.
