Dean Harrison and Peter Hickman each took a pair of Supersport race wins on the opening day of the 80th Anniversary Gold Cup. The Saturday race meeting in North Yorkshire saw action across a wide range of classes from Super Twins to Classic Superbikes, with a full results assemblage provided.
Joey Thompson, Rob Hodson, and Peter Hickman shared the podium spots in the day's Super Twins races. Thompson won the first race ahead of Hodson and Hickman, with Ryan Dixon fourth and Johnny Stewart fifth. Hodson then took victory in the second race, with Ryan Dixon in second and Thompson third. Peter Hickman and Rhys Stephenson completed the top five in that second outing.
Supersport Standouts
Dean Harrison was the dominant force in the Supersport A category. He won both Race 1 and Race 2. Peter Hickman finished as runner-up in both of those races. Mikey Browne took third in Race 1, while Tom Weeden finished third in Race 2. The Supersport B class saw Aarron Cooke achieve a similar double, winning the first and second races ahead of Sam Osborne and Paul Moir.

Sidecar and Classic Action
The F2 Sidecar races were won by the pairing of Kieran Clarke and Rob Coppock. They secured first place in both the first and second outings. Steve and Matty Ramsden finished second in each race, followed by Mark Hegarty and Jack Knapton in third. Greg Lambert and Andrew Haynes swept the Pre-Injection Sidecar class with two wins.
In the Classic Superbike races, Tom Weeden was a double winner. He won the first race ahead of Joey Thompson and Johnny Stewart, with Paul Marley and Mick Goodings in the top five. Weeden then repeated the feat in Race 2, with Thompson again second and Barry Furber third.
Other Class Winners
Stephen Gorton was another rider to secure a double victory, winning both 400cc races ahead of Dan Frear and William Grant. Steven Allan did the same in the CB500 class, winning both races with Ryan Arnold and Sean Cookney on the podiums. In the Two Strokes category, Dan Sayle won the first race ahead of Phil Ellis and Chris Meyer, while Chris Meyer won the second race with Phil Ellis second. Andy Hayes won both Super Moto races ahead of Nick Cronin.
The 125/Moto3 class wins were split, with Chris Meyer taking the first race and Tony Flinton the second.
